Zonta Club of Defiance will be presenting a free Human Trafficking Seminar on Thursday, January 10th ,beginning at 6:00 PM. Human Trafficking is believed to be the third largest criminal activity in the world.
Speakers that evening include Tim Wedge , Associate Professor and Program Manager for Digital Forensic Science at Defiance College in Defiance, Ohio. He has also taught as an adjunct instructor for Purdue University, UC Irvine and Champlain College. Tim first encountered human trafficking digital forensic examinations for US Army Intelligence as a military contractor in Iraq. Since that time he has endeavored to educate himself and others about this horrendous crime and to research ways to apply technology to better detect, investigate, and prosecute the crime of human trafficking.
Steven Mueller, Defiance County Sheriff Deputy will also speak. Mueller has been assigned to investigations including technology facilitated crimes since 2002. Mueller is currently assigned to the FBI’s Violent Crimes against Children’s Task Force and the Black Swamp Electronic Crimes Task Force.
Also, included as part of the program will be a personal testimony from a survivor’s family member.
